I still remember John

I was John's squad leader while we were stationed in California, and then Okinawa. He was an outstanding Marine, and a friend to all who knew him. I was transfered to a recon outfit before we all went to Viet Nam. A few months later, I was at Dong Ha where the medevacs were coming in, and I spoke to one of the men in my old squad. I learned that John had been killed. What a terrible waste of a fine young man. I still remember you John, and hope that you moved on to a better life.
